Kneibert Clinic Now Has
North Poplar Bluff Facility
Kneibert Clinic has expanded its health care services
to a convenient new location. The new facility, Kneibert
Clinic North, is located in the Hillsdale Plaza on Highway
67 in North Poplar Bluff and was purchased recently
from Doctors Regional Medical Center.
On staff at Kneibert Clinic North is Burton
D. Cox, Sr., D.O. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Our experienced health care team cares
for major medical problems to colds and flu. X-ray and
lab services are available. Walk-ins are welcome. For

AAFP Honors Dr. Turner
Dr. Kirby Turner was honored
recently for 30 years of membership in the American
Academy of Family Physicians. The AAFP is the national
medical association representing more than 88,000 family
physicians, family practice residents and medical students
from across the country. The AAFP recognizes Dr. Turner
and pays tribute to those Academy members whose many
years of involvement have contributed significantly
to the position of prominence family physicians occupy
in today's health care delivery system. The AAFP, founded
in 1947, was instrumental in establishing the medical
specialty of family practice in 1969. It also was a
pioneer in establishing a requirement that its members
earn 150 hours of approved continung medical education
every three years.
Dr. Madduri Presents Paper
Dr. S.D. Madduri's
paper "Filiform Guide Wire: Safe and Effective
Urethral Dilation" was accepted for presentation
at the 78th annual meeting of the American Urological
Association held in Sante Fe, N.M., in September. The
topic of the presentation was a new urologic device
Dr. Madduri invented, a guide wire with a flexible tip
and stiff body, which can be safely used in dilating
the channel that drains urine from the bladder and helps
in inserting a catheter. Dr. Madduri practices urology
at Kneibert Clinic.
Dr. Madduri Awarded Grant
For His Study on Viagra
S.D.
Madduri, M.D., urologist, has been awarded an unrestricted
educational grant to continue his studies on Viagra
by the company that markets the drug. Madduri received
the grant from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals after conducting
research on 60 patients to determine if the drug was
as effective as its widespread publicity claimed. Viagra
gained worldwide attention after its release in the
spring of 1998 for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction.
The grant will allow Madduri to complete statistical
analysis and help him present or publish the study in
medical journals.

Mental Health Awareness Day - Friday, May 12,
2000 - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Black River Coliseum in Poplar
Bluff, Mo. Sponsored by Kneibert Clinic, Positive Resources
and Poplar Bluff Public Schools, this event will include
more than 100 booth exhibitors from the mental health
professions, speakers discussing mental health topics,
door prizes and children's activities. This event is

Urgent Care Moves to Clinic
Kneibert Clinic Urgent Care, formerly located in the
DRMC Emergency Room area, is now located within Kneibert
Clinic at 686 Lester St., Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Our
Urgent Care Center has extended clinic hours for greater
convenience to patients, at the same low fee paid at
the physician's office.
Urgent Care hours are:
- 8-9 a.m. Monday-Saturday
- 5-8 p.m. Monday-Friday
- 12-5 p.m. Saturday
- 1-5 p.m. Sunday
Regular clinic hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is necessary.
New patients are accepted.

Kneibert Clinic Lab Receives CAP
Accreditation
The Kneibert Clinic Laboratory
has been awarded national accreditation by the Commission
on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American
Pathologists, based on the results of a recent on-site
inspection. The laboratory's director learned of this
national recognition and was congratulated for the "excellence
of services" being provided. The CAP Laboratory
Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, is
recognized by the federal government as being equal
to or more stringent than the government's own inspection
program. The College of American Pathologists is a medical
society serving nearly 16,000 physician members and
the laboratory community throughout the world.
